Overview
Lifeguard Training at West Wight Sports and Community Centre on the Isle of Wight offers the opportunity to gain the STA Level 2 Award for Pool Lifeguard, a nationally recognised qualification and an essential first step towards employment in the leisure industry.

What The Course Covers
The STA Level 2 Award for Pool Lifeguard includes both theory and practical training, covering:
- Pool rescue techniques
- CPR and use of emergency procedures
- First aid for poolside emergencies
- Supervision of swimming pools and users
- Dealing with accidents and emergency situations
A pre‑requisite swim assessment must be completed before the course begins.
Pre‑Requisite Swim Assessment
Before starting the course, candidates must be able to:
- Swim 100 metres on front and back continuously
- Swim 50 metres in under 1 minute
- Surface dive and recover an object from a depth of 3 metres
