Murmuration School of Dance
Overview
Our Little Starlings Dance Class is a playful and imaginative introduction to movement for children aged 2–4 and their grown‑ups. Through music, rhythm, and creative activities, little ones explore simple dance steps, interactive games, and expressive movement in a warm, supportive environment. This class encourages confidence, coordination, and curiosity, offering families a joyful way to stay active together. No dance experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to join in.
Our Ballet Class for ages 4–8 offers a friendly and encouraging introduction to classical ballet. Children learn fundamental ballet steps at the barre and in the centre, developing balance, strength, posture, and musicality. Creativity and storytelling are woven into each session, helping young dancers grow in confidence while following the ISTD syllabus. Perfect for beginners — no previous ballet experience required.

Benefits
Taking part in early‑years dance activities can support children’s development in a wide range of ways:
-
Physical development — Dance helps improve balance, coordination, motor skills, posture, and spatial awareness. Research shows that movement‑based play supports healthy muscle and bone development in early childhood.
-
Cognitive growth — Following simple instructions, recognising rhythms, and exploring patterns in movement all help build memory, focus, and early problem‑solving skills.
-
Emotional wellbeing — Dance encourages self‑expression, creativity, and confidence. Shared activities with a trusted adult also strengthen emotional security.
-
Social skills — Group classes help children learn to take turns, share space, and interact positively with others in a supportive environment.
-
Bonding time — Participating together strengthens the connection between child and grown‑up, creating positive shared experiences.
-
A welcoming community space — As part of West Wight Sports & Community Centre’s inclusive programme, families can enjoy a friendly, accessible environment at the heart of the Isle of Wight community.
